What is UltraBoard?
Ultraboard is a lightweight structural panel consisting of a rigid polystyrene foam core board center sandwiched between two thin sheets of moisture-resistant .015" polystyrene. This highly versatile foam board product is favored for its durability, and it works great for various uses, including point-of-purchase displays, retail graphics, and exhibits that require dimensional stability.
Ultraboard comes in two thickness options, 3/16" or ½," and is the ideal solution for creating custom shapes and sizes. The ½" thickness is preferred for its durability and adds depth to your display, giving your ultraboard signs a three-dimensional appearance. The polystyrene surface comes in a matte finish, which is perfect for all types of lighting environments. Finishing options for our ultra board include rounded corners (1", 3/4", 1/2", 1/4", and 3/8"), special cuts (cut-to-shape), as well as single or double-sided printing options.

Ultraboard can be displayed in various ways, including standing, wall-mounted, and hung with 3M adhesive tape or double-sided velcro. Alternatively, it can be hung with screws or nails through pre-fabricated drilled holes.

Is UltraBoard the same as GatorBoard?
No, Ultra Board and Gator Board are not the same products. Although both have black foam core centers, their outer finish differs. Gator Board has a clay face and matte finish, while Ultra Board has a litho-grade moisture-resistant polystyrene surface with a satin finish. Both products offer exceptional value and are ideal for digital printing, screen printing, vinyl application, and even hand-painted images.
What is the difference between foam core and UltraBoard?
Foam core board is a material commonly used for sign boards, but its paper surface is prone to dents, bends, and creases. Ultra board, on the other hand, shares the foam center but is distinguished by litho-grade, dent-resistant styrene liners on its surface. This renders the panel flat and rigid, making it an excellent choice for durable indoor signage.
Is UltraBoard waterproof?
No, the ultra board is not waterproof or intended for outdoor use.
What is the durability of the Ultra Board surface in outdoor environments?
Ultra board surface is not designed for outdoor use and will quickly damage when placed outdoors.
Do you offer custom color-matched liners on your ultraboard signs?
We currently do not offer custom color-matched liners for our ultraboard signs. They are available in white or black; you can choose your preferred options using our online pricing tool.
How heavy is UltraBoard?
Ultra board weighes .25 lbs per square foot, so as an example. An ultra board sign that's 24" x 24" (4 sqft) would weigh one lb. (16 oz.).
Can the ultra board be custom-cut?
